  1. Mr Jephson Norreys was the local Landlord, but his death occurred a few weeks ago in London where he was killed in an underground train crash.
    This family have been in the possession of land since the sixteenth century. They have been looked upon as being very good landlords. They got possession of the land through the plantation of 1622 from King James 1. The land was not divided into farms under the guidance of the landlords, neither was it divided when one of the family married. The Landlord exercised one special power over his tenants that was: they should obey him in every way. Sometimes they were punished for trivial acts. Tithes were collected in this district in former times. Those tithes consisted of money and stock. People did not resent their collection and no battles were fought on account of them.
