  1. Sheep, Goat, Pig and Fowl
The sheep is a very mild and timid animal. She is reared on the farm and is fed with hay, linseed meal, and grass in the winter time. In summer she feeds only on grass.
The sheep is a very tender animal and has to be well cared for and fed. When the sheep is fat she is sold to the butcher to be killed and we use her meat which is called mutton.
The sheep’s wool is cut off when she is killed and it is carried to the mill where it is manufactured into blankets and other woollen fabrics.
The sheep’s skin is made into light straps for shoes. Their trotters are boiled into glue and oil. In spring the female sheep brings forth lambs numbering from one to three. It is lovely to see the young lambs frisking about in the fields.
