    become more a disease that in former years. An old cure for rheumatism only for men, was to get a certain amaunt of marshmallow and horseradish and a quantity of some other garden herbs, then boil them in a couple of gallons of water, and leave it boiling until there is only one gallon left. A small quantity of whiskey should then be added to preserve it. This syrup should not be drunk for a month after it is made.

    A famous cure for a cough is to slice a turnip, and put between each slice a good (slice) coat of brown sugar, pile them together then, and have a vessel under the slice for the Juice to drop into it, and drink it every day
