- Mary Long who lived in Cahirhennessey about a half mile from Ballingarry was a great singer. Some of her famous songs were, "Sliabh na mban," "Pat OHara", and "Carrick Dhoun". She is dead about thirty years now.
James Cuthbert was a great singer in days gone by. He lived in Kilbeg about 2 1/2 miles from Ballingarry. His favourite songs were, "Where the river Shannon flows," The Wearing of the Green" and "Killarney". He is still alive and is about 60 years.
