  2. There were many fairs held in Ballingarry long ago. They were held in the "fair field" a few yards south west of the village which contained two acres of land. Miss O Connell is the owner of it at the present time. They were held every month. The last fair was held in Ballingarry about thirty years ago, and that was a horse fair. They fell through because the buyers would not attend them. They found it more profitable to wait for the big fairs in Rathkeale. They finished a
