- There were many fairs held in Ballingarry long ago. They were held in the "fair field" a few yards south west of the village which contained two acres of land. Miss O Connell is the owner of it at the present time. They were held every month. The last fair was held in Ballingarry about thirty years ago, and that was a horse fair. They fell through because the buyers would not attend them. They found it more profitable to wait for the big fairs in Rathkeale. They finished a(continues on next page)
