N.B.The above are seven extracts from accounts and descriptions of St. James's well. Most points are similar except the mention of a fish. It is most likely that the pieces of cloth hanging on the bush were used to bathe the eyes. - Collector

- "This is not as well known as St. James Well. It is called The Grotto. There is a shrine there with a statue of Our Lord and the Blessed Virgin. There are steps going down to the well.There are a few big rocks at the back of it and a heap of stones. People who want to be cured drink the water. There is a mug there for which to drink it. At one side of the well there is a stone cross with the inscription."Erected by Lady Emly 1922"
