- (continued from previous page)In the middle of the forge is a large anvil and under it is a block. Near it is the smith's tool box. At one side of the wall are many wheels left to have bands put on. There is a portion raised up from the ground where the fire is made. Near it is the bellows. It has a big iron wheel. Outside is a round ring made of cement. There is a pump just at the opposite side of the road. There are always many machines left to be mended.
The Smith, Jim Quigley, is liked very well for his funny story-telling.
People say that forge water would cure warts and chilblains. - The nearest forge to our house is the one in Clarina. It is fairly big. There is a stone wall on the outside and it has a zinc roof. There is one chimney and one door in it. The door is painted red and the frame of the window is painted also. The inside is stone also. There is one fireplace there.
