    the following little verse:-
    As Peter lay weeping
    On a marble stone
    Jesus came to him alone
What ails thou Peter he said
Lord I am troubled with a toothache.
Or by not eating meat on a Wednesday. A cure for insanity on a small scale was to dose the patient with cold black coffee. Yellow jaundice was a hard disease to be cured by the old people, this method was sometimes used. Watercress boiled in water or milk was given to the patient seven days in succession. This cure however was not always successful. Warts were cured by rubbing the milk or juice of the wart weed each day on the warts each day until they disappeared. The wart weed is to be found in almost every garden.
