  1. A Clever Cock
The cock is a very clever animal. Once upon a time there was a crowd of men cardplaying in a house. In those times there used to be a roost over the kitchen door in every house on which the cock and hens used sleep. They were playing away and some of them cussing and swearing when all of a sudden the cock flew down and quenched the candle. The men threw the cock out in the dung heap. In the morning the cock was dead and his feathers had dissappeared. The night after they had no candle to play the cards and the man that threw the cock out went to the neighbours house for a candle. When he was coming home he was taken by invisable hands and lashed against the fence and killed.
