  1. An Crannóg (Knockanalban) -
    About one mile to the west of Coore School lies the Crannóg of Knockanalban. It is situated in the middle of Knockanalban lake and reached by boats from an old pathway which ran by lake on the Southern side. It is mentioned in an old record that a former blacksmith once lived there, and he was possessed of a large sum of gold. When this old blacksmith left the Crannóg we have no account but mention is made of the Crannóg in connection with a very old family who were surnamed Mac Brodys. This family was highly respected and well connected having intermarried with the old stock. One of the married Tadhg McMahon of Knockalough to the east of Kilmihil.This man was not too kind to his wife and the Mac Brodys attacked him and thrashed him and he changed his manner towards
