    Then the other potatoes were set in later. The Up - to - Dates were the ones that took the black scab and the old people called them the rogues.
    The potatoes were ploughed or dug out in October and all the neighbours helped to gather them in baskets made of sally rods. A pit was made and the potatoes put into it. Then they covered them with clay. The people who had lofts stored them up in it. They made starch with potatoes.
