There was a very rich Protestant living in the town-land called Ferrard.
He was at the cross one day and he knew the people were at Mass, and he sent word down that he was dead, but the people didn't come up till mass was over and when they came up they found Ferrard dead at the cross, and since that the cross is called Ferrard's cross. - In Clonmore Churchyard there is an old ruin of a chapel and it seems that the priests(continues on next page)
