- The townland I live in is called Mountainstown it is in the Parish of Dunleer the Barony of Ferrard in the County of Louth.
There are ten families and 38 people in all, and there are seven old people living in the district.
Campbell is the commonest name in Mountainstown.
Most of the Houses are thatched.
Probably the reason it is called Mountainstown is because it is high, but the land is very good.
The names of the old people are:-
Mrs Cruickshank, (74)
Mrs Campbell, (73)
Mrs Carney, (90)
Mrs Philips, (72)
Johnnie Campbell, (78)
The Gilly Campbell, (71)
Paddy Geraghety, (74)
Most of them tell stories, in English. They don't speak Irish.
The houses were more numerous long ago than what they are now.(continues on next page)- Collector
