- Horse Racing on Termonfeckin Strand was a favourite sport and held annually. It was a good strand for horse racing but was discontinued owing to lack of funds.
The game of Cricket was played on Baltray meadow before Golf was introduced.
Dancing at Crossroads was a favourite pastime but the late P.P. put a stop to it. - "Keening" or what is commonly termed the 'Irish Cry' was discontinued in this district about 50 or 55 years ago. It took the form of a lament over the corpse calling out the good points of the departed one, and singing and wailing alternately.
