    what happened ye? I said 'sir' I was struck by the lightning and my poor pony is dead. "Don't be affeared my poor man" said he," you'll be alright and he went over and stooped down and took the pony by the head and lifted him up.
    The pony shook himself and seemed nothing the worse.
    The men then bowed to me and I bowed back and they went off into the lightning which was still blazing over the sea.
    I could see them for a good way out getting dimmer and dimmer and the lightning fading away until it died out altogether.
    The poor pony was nothing the worse. I filled the sand and came home.
    Them was good kindly men."
