- We plant Potatoes every year on our farm. We plant about a half an acre. My brother prepares the ground well before setting the seed. He ploughs the soil twice and harrows it then.
The drills are then made with a plough and manure is then spread along in the furrows When the manure is spread the seed potatoes are then dropped leaving every slit one foot a part. The drills are then closed and left there till the sprouts come up over the drills.
About the end of June the early potatoes are only fit to dig but the late ones are only fit to dig at the end of August
The potatoes are ploughed out mostly with a plough. My Brothers and I pick them into(continues on next page)- Collector
