- Once a man and his son who lived in Kilmessan were digging up potatoes in their garden, when suddenly they hit something very hard, they did not heed it because they thought it was only a stone. They went home that evening and next morning they were digging as usual and when they came to the object which the thought was a stone they found that it was a crock. They lifted up the crock and opened it and found that it contained two thousand gold sovereighs.
The gold was supposed to be hidden there by their ancestors who lived in Kilmessan. They were the richest people in Kilmesan.- Collector
