    The Archdale Mansion.
    This mansion is situated not far from Kells, about 2½ miles out on the Maperath Road. On the entrance gates there are two lovely sculptured hounds in stone. The sculptor decided to have these hounds for his masterpiece. It was only after he had them finished, he discovered that he forgot to make their tongues. Finding, however, that he could not put them in then he was disgusted, and he committed suicide by cutting his throat.
