    Oaten Meal Bread
    This was made of oaten meal to which a pinch of salt was added, and kneaded with luke warm water, and baked, standing up in front of the fire.

  2. Potato Cake
    Potato cakes are made of boiled potatoes, flour, and salt, all kneaded together with milk, cut in quarters and baked.
    Oaten-meal Bread
    Oaten-meal bread is made of oaten-meal, salt, and soft water, and baked on a griddle or before a clear fire.
    No querns were ever used in the district. Bread was not made every day, but enough was made for a week at a time.
