- Travelling folk often call to our house. They come singly. The often sell small goods. They are not very poor. The people buy goods from them.
They sleep in a carriage on the side of the road. They have food with them but they go around looking for milk.
The alms they accept are money, food and many other small things. The family that visit our district most frequently are the Maoloney's. They travel in families not singly. They come specially on fair days and at Christmas time.
Some travellers bring news from distant parts such as Dublin or Galway.
