- It was said in olden times that the bride should wear "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue".
The bridegroom should be in the church for a while before the bride.
The following verse is often quoted when choosing the day.
"Monday for health.
Tuesday for wealth.
Wednesday the best day of all.
Thursday for losses
Friday for crosses,
Saturday no day at all".
It is an old custom to tie an old pair of shoes to the car in which the bride and bridegroom are. This is supposed to bring them good luck. There is an old superstition that the bride should not return to her own home for a month(continues on next page)- Collector
