St. Hugh's well is in Carne, which is between Killare and Loughnavalley and opposite Uishneac. This well is dried up now, but if you scrape a hole there the water will spring up. Mrs. Wyer, Kilbeggan remembers witnessing a cure at this well. She accompanied this lady who was bringing her grandchild of four years hoping for her cure, as she could neither talk or walk at that age. As the child was being emerged in the water, she spoke her first words which were. "Grannie, Grannie," and was able to walk after.
