- In olden times people took only three meals in the day. The first meal was the breakfast about seven o'clock, the next meal was the dinner at twelve and the supper at seven.
The food used for breakfast was porridge and milk. There was no tea at that time. For dinner a large basket of potatoes was placed on the middle of the floor and the people sat on the floor around it. There were no tables or chairs to be had. Their feet and legs formed a table. They took butter and salt with the potatoes.
