of boats were smashed on the Shannon, and fish were blown out on the land with the waves. A great flood occured in September 1903. It rained for twenty four hours. Anneville river overflowed at Tang bridge situated on the main road from Athlone to Longford. All the fields on the right side of the bank were flooded. A real heavy storm occured in Feb 26th 1933. In parts it was from six to nine feet deep, all traffic was stopped. The people used to melt the snow in pots they used that for water. For one week the roads were blocked.
