  1. In the time of the Black and Tans there was a battle fought in Auburn. It was between the I.R.A. and the Black and Tans. There were very little men killed on each side. About the year 1883 or 1884 the evictions took place here and they were known as the the Coolvin Evictions. Everyone gathered up to Coolvin on a certain day appointed and the curate stopped these evictions.
    In the time of the "Great Famine" people were seen starved by the ditches in this locality. The people used draw clay and stones from Noughal Hill to the Hollows and were paid sixpence per week. This is how they earned their living. It was
