  1. There once lived a young man in Terlicken called McDonagh. He was going home one night from the town and opposite his gate there is a stream. Just as he was going in his gate a big black dog ran out in front of him. It seemed as if the dog leaped out of the stream. The man went after the dog and the dog turned and looked at the man and the man noticed fire coming from the dog's mouth. The man was just going to run when the dog at once leaped back into the stream and disappeared. A week after this the man died.
