    people had to walk on fords across the river in the shallow places. Some of the old roads remain unused as they have new roads made.
    The roads leading to Ballymahon have been repaired and rolled it is about two or three weeks finished and it is a good road now.
    There was also a road leading from Lanesboro' to Ballinakill abut five miles. Ballinakill is a very backward place at present and contains a ruin surrounded by a churchyard. This road runs mainly through the bog.
    There was also a road which is still in use it is branching from the Main road to Longford this road is still in use and it is about a quarter of a mile long. It was built in the year of the famine. There was also another road from the Abbey in Rathcline going through
