    and Whit Monday. Matches are made in this district usually. There is money given as a dowry. About eighty years ago stock and goods were given. There is a big feast held on a wedding day. Usually the wedding feast is held in the house of the bride. When the bride and the husband and people are attending the wedding are going away they tie old shoes on to the back of the car to bring them good luck. There is also rice thrown on them. The straw boys visit the house of the wedding for the purpose of the wedding for the purpose of getting money and drinks.

  2. There was an old barn belonging to Mick Kenny of Drombad a priest named Father Moran used to say mass in it in Penal Times. There was a Father Kiernan who used to say mass in Ballinamuck. He was hunted by the English soldiers. He was caught saying
