    Lough Gowna is beautifully situated surrounded by wooded country and studded by many pretty isles.

    of the parish who was in attendance at the good man's sick bed. The bell was unearthed and erected in the Parish Church - Dunbeggan Church - where it fulfilled its mission as sweetly as it did in the days of the Great St. Columcille till 1936. It was then replaced by a new bell by the late L. A. Plunkett. P.P. who had the Church beautifully renovated. A beautiful life-size statue of St. Columcille was purchased by the children of the parish and erected in the front of the tower depicting the saint with a book in his hand looking Northwards towards Iona the land of his exile. The bell was also renovated and it still hangs in the tower. It is still tolled off on St. Columcille's Day to remind the faithful of the Sainted Parish that it has still surived in spite of Dane and Yeoman. A Gaelic inscription on the bell when translated in to English was as follows "The Bell of the Travelling Saint". The graveyard on Inish Mór was called Reilig Columcille and was the original buirying ground for most of North Longford and West Cavan. It dates back to the days of St. Patrick. and contains the ashes of Martyrs, Monks and Patriots. During the Penal Days Mass was celebrated in this district by two Father O'Reillys. They were brothers - natives of Ballykilchriest in Granard parish. On Sunday the people assembled for Holy Mass around the Mass Rocks one at St Patrick's Well in Western end of Aughakine. The other at a secluded spot beside Lough Gowna named Reslaugha - and one in the Eastern
