    Local Proverbs
    6th April, 1938
"Better to go to bed hungry than to rise in death."
    "Better late than never."
"Make hay while the sun shines."
"To every cow belongs its calf and to every man his photograph."
"Keep the shop and the shop will keep you."
"Pig dead, soldier on, " as a man said in a letter when his son wrote to him from America to send him the money to come home. The father wrote back to him and said, "I will send you the money when I sell the pig", but the pig died and the father wrote back to his son saying "Pig dead soldier on".
