    As I travel through the city,
    I am thinking here today,
    of a spot across the ocean,
    In old Ireland far away.
    In my heart I love it fonder,
    Than a pen or tongue can tell
    Its the place where I was born
    Aughnagarron fare thee well.

    In my mind I see it lying,
    Mid the Longford hills away
    And I can see that peaceful homestead
    Where I first saw light.
    I can see each glen and valley
    Every shady nook and dell
    Near the little town of Granard
    Aughnagarron fare thee well.

    I can see the roadway winding
    Over the bridge from Cloonen Mill
    I can see the school house shining
