  1. Bagenal Harvey was one of Wexford's greatest leaders during the Rebellion of '98. After the battle of Ross in which the rebels were defeated, he went to the Saltee Islands about three miles from Kilmore in south Wexford, accompanied by his greatest friend, Colclough. They went there to escape death from the yeomen. They brought with them sufficient food to last them for six months.
