Festivals
St Stephen's Day. Boys go round hunting the wren. They usually collect pence at the doors in the country.
St Patrick's Day Shamrock worn.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake day.
May day May bushes decorated with flowers and candles.
Michaelmas. Goose eaten.
St. Martin's Day. No mills were used that day.
Hallow Een. Apples, nuts were eaten games played. Such "ducking for apples. Snap. Colcannon for supper. Visards or masks worn. Black men go round to doors at night.
