“In the graveyard at Adamstown there was a Blessed Well years ago.”
In the graveyard at Adamstown there was a Blessed Well years ago. It was called "Tobar Abbain" which means "Abban's Well." One day a woman came and washed clothes in this well and dirtied it. From that onward the well was never seen in the graveyard again. It disappeared to a place called "The Barracks", about half a mile away.
There are medals and bits of beads on a stone over the well as relics.
There are stones in it with spots of blood on them, and these are called "Cloca Fola" or "Blood Stones." There is said to be a cure in them for toothache.- There is a "Holy Well" on Mr. Barron's land in Templenacroha. There is a skeogh growing over this well and a man who lived near the well went to cut it one day and while he was working he looked towards his home and saw it was on fire.
