  1. There was a woollen factory on the banks of the River Boro at the north side of Bree Hill about the middle of the last century.
It was owned by a man named Pounell. Tweeds, friezes, blankets, flannels, were manufactures there. About forty people were employed there and most of the work was done by machinery.
Local farmers brought the wool to the factory and got it made into such materials as they required. By this means farmers' houses were always well stocked with the best of blankets and other woollen materials.
The building still known as "the factory" is to this day in the best of repair. It is in the possession of a Mr Kennedy and is used as a saw and grinding mill.
