  1. There was a big flu in Clara and all over Ireland in the year 1918.
    The mill and factory and all the schools in Clara were closed.
    Mr. Perry Goodbody owned the mill that time.
    When the men were sick he had a day-nurse and a night nurse minding the men. I know one of the men that was sick in that flu and his name is John Murray. He is still working in the mill in Clara.
    During this flu Mr. Perry Goodbody put something on the roads to keep down the noise of anything on the roads. An awful lot of people died in that 'flu in Clara
