- About a half a mile from Ballycumber there is a hill called "The Drying Hill." Long ago in olden times there was a flax mill beside the hill. When the flax was fit to pull they put it into sheaves and steeped it in long dykes which are still to be seen. It was left in the dykes for a certain period. Then it was made into linen and it was made into linen and it was spread on the hill to dry. That is how the hill got its name. The ruins of the mill are still to be seen on Michael Guinan's Land.
