- The Dance at Clooneen CrossLast Sunday evening at half-past seven,
I took a stroll down by Cloneen Gate.
And as I wandered I sadly pondered
All o the country's sad lonely state,
As I thus reflected the crowds collected
To throw a stone or play pitch and toss
And how the dancers tripped sets and lancers
In bygone days here at Derrinlough Cross.I cursed damnation and emigration
That drove those colleens across the sea
And left my feelings so hard for dealings
And turned my thoughts towards America
In search of a foreigner at the Sandy Corner
I plainly heard some melodeon tone
And the scene I gazed on, it would amaze one
