  1. Rath = The ancient name of Rath was Rath - Mac Kilduff from the chief who occupied the Rath or Dun there called (Raithin Glas). The place adjoining is called yet Raheen-glass. The name Thomastown was give to it by the landlord who bought the place, Thomas Bennett.
