    The river that runs from Drumcullen through Birr called Abhann Chara = mentioned as part of the boundary of Ancient Meath.

  2. Previous to Christianity there was adjoining Birr a place of Druidic worship. Up to comparatively recent times there was a large limestone rock in Birr parish supposed to be the stone known as the "Navel of Ireland".
