1. Games We Play (ar lean)

   us they would say "spy". Then we would run after them and try to catch them before they would be back into the den. This is how we play colours. One girl would be an angel another a devil and another would give each of us a colour. The angel would say a colour and if anyone had that colour she would go to the angel. Then the devil would say another colour and if anyone had that colour she would go to the devil and so on til all the colours would be called out. Then two of the angels would hold up their hands and the devil would go out under their hands and the other angels would beat them on the backs with their hands. This is how we play hop-scotch. We would make three or four circles on the ground then we would get a small stone or a bit of a slate and we would try and get that in to the circles by holding up one foot and kicking it in with the other. This is how we play corners. We would get four corners then we would get five girls. One of us would go to each corner and one would stay in the middle. Then we would change from corner to corner and the girl in the middle would try to get into one of the
