  1. Forty years a football match was played between Castletara and Annagh. The players were dressed in corduroy knee trousers and they wore football jerseys. The match was played in the "Bow Meadow" There were twenty one men on each side. The teams were picked from the best footballers in the parish. The Castletara team won by the score of two goals and three point to two goals and one point for Annagh. The ball was made of hay and was kicked in a field and not across (field) country.
