    None of the old people would go near a fort at night time or go across the path which was supposed to lead from one fort to another as they dreaded that they might meet with a band of fairies who whould bring them astray or bring them to some fort and compel them to spend the night at their dances or revels. This belief in the existence of fairies in the minds of the old Irish people.
