- There are fairy forts nearly in every district. They are generally situated on a hill. Nearly everyone of them are round. There are some around my townland of Crenagh. They are surrounded by very deep decks. Often times there are lights seen and music heard in them. There are three kinds of trees around every one of them, namely the holly, hazil, and hawthorn. No one would plough, or cut any trees in the field in which the fort would be in because they would not have good luck.
One morning early before three o'clock a man was going some and he was coming by a fort when he heard sweet music(continues on next page)- Collector
