  1. When Myles the Slasher was a young boy he and his comrades often saw a mare and foal coming out of the lough and feed on a meadow along its shore. This lough is situated between the townlands of Augharan and Cavan in the County Leitrim. Myles set a plan to catch the foal. He got webs of home-manufactured linen and tied them together and spread them along the lough shore and placed his [?] at each end of the web. The men lay concealed until the mare and foal went up the meadow past the web. Then they lifted up the linen. The mare jumped the web but the foal got entangled and was caught. Just then a voice came
