James caught hold of the vessel and what was it but a tea-pot. He looked inside and it was full of gold and silver - about a hundred pounds mostly in sovereigns. The person that hid this was a very wise person. So they brought it home and from that day to this day they always had good luck and were always rich. This is about seventy years ago.
- According to the history of this district we are told that on one of the islands of Lough Ramour there was a castle. This castle belonged to the O'Reilly chieftains in the time of the trouble. The O'Reilly chieftains cast all his gold and silver vessels into the lake. It lay there for a few years. [Crossed out: T] They were discovered in a hole with a trunk of a tree over it.
