  2. John Patrick McCabe is a native of Ardlow. He was a great runner and won many competitions. Other members of the family were good runners. John P. was Mile Champion of Ireland. His brother Eddie was Half-mile Champion Runner of the United Kingdom.
    Another brother named Peter is living in Ardlow still. John P. spends his holidays in Ardlow every Summer. He has a shop in Blackrock Co. Dublin. He is an ardent supporter of the Co. Cavan Football Team. His family were nick-named "The Racer" McCabes.
