    tracts of land along the valley of the Blackwater River between Kells and Virginia. Some of these soldiers left to guard the Marquis tired of their surroundings and returned to England. So that the Marquis became owner of the tract of land along the Blackwater from Kells to Virginia both towns included.
    It is said that lameness of the officer was feigned in order to be left in that charming district and it is a remarkable coincidence that to this day every male member of the Taylor family is lame from the cradle.
