    (continued from previous page)
    She blushed like refulgent Arora,
    Composing fair seamrog so green.
Dejected in grief she stood waiting
    I listened awhile to her song;
He words they were true and prevailing
She complained of a merciless wrong.
She said Luther was the instigation
    Of hatred, malignant and spleen
    And that reprobate vile Reformation
    Degraded the Shamrock so green.
    My ill-fated country I mourn
I feel for her wrongs and her woes
    With wrath I incessantly burn
When I view the triumph of her foes.
Justice, oh, why dost thou slumber?
Why tyrants oppress us so keen
Weighty are the chains that encumber
The friends of the seamrog so green
    Poor Catholics for their profession
    From under a burdensome yoke
Crushed down by the weight of oppression
    Combined and designed to provoke.
    Our humble petitions are slighted
    By tyrants morose and obscene
