    well the girl could work. One replied she wasn't doing it herself - the good people were helping her. These words were spoken in a whisper but immediately the girl left her work approached the workers and confronting the author of the expression cautioned him not to express himself ever again in this manner, and assured him of retaliation should he repeat those words.
    A couple of years passed by without further incident. The parents decided the girl should go to America, where they thought among different people and strange scenes her thoughts would be engaged on events far different to her monotonous environment at home.
    Accordingly her passage to America was settled for with the local Agent and everything in preparation for the voyage was complete. The day arrived for her departure and about noon leaving farewell to her parents she set out on foot to the railway station about six miles distant. Her brother, carrying her handbag, in those days travelling luggage was light, intended to see her safe on the train. When about a mile on the journey the girl insisted her brother should return home.
    It was a warm, sunshiny harvest day and the girl convinced her brother of the futility of going further with her - recalling the busy time, the beautiful day, and how foolish it was tiring himself with an unnecessary journey.
    At last he complied with her wishes and bidding her goodbye she continued her journey alone. He watched her
